La Géode
Back to all places
La Géode is a giant mirror ball situated in the heart of the Parc de la Villette. La Géode is a striking architectural feat that has become a symbol of modern ingenuity since its completion in 1985. This iconic dome, measuring 36 meters ((118 ft) in diameter, houses an IMAX theatre that offers an unparalleled cinematic experience. Its gleaming stainless steel geodesic sphere stands as a testament to its innovative design.
The structure reflects the changing Parisian skyline and the verdant expanse of the surrounding park. A marvel of engineering, its 6,433 triangular mirrors authenticate the meticulous craftsmanship involved in its creation. These triangles are 1.5 meters (4.9 ft) long.
Its location places it amidst other notable institutions, such as the Cité des Sciences et de l’Industrie (City of Science and Industry), creating a hub of scientific activities in the city.
