Place du Tertre

Place du Tertre, nestled within the historic district of Montmartre in Paris, stands as a captivating testament to the city’s rich artistic heritage. This charming square, with its cobblestoned pavements and vibrant atmosphere, is serenely perched just minutes away from the iconic Basilica of the Sacré-Cœur. Historically, it has long served as a gathering point for artists who set up their easels, offering portraits and caricatures, whilst cafés and bistros line its perimeter, inviting visitors to savor quintessential Parisian delicacies.

Over 300 artists work in Tertre, or Artists’ Square, in the summer, but only about twenty in late autumn. Montmartre artists can only sell their own creations. There is an exciting gallery by the square, where you can buy both modern art and original works by Salvador Dalí, for example.

It’s a perfect spot to enjoy a leisurely stroll, savor a delicious coffee, or simply watch the world go by. A visit here promises a delightful experience filled with art, culture, and the quintessential charm of Paris. Its lively ambiance, framed by the backdrop of quaint architecture, continues to draw both tourists and art enthusiasts seeking an authentic Parisian experience.
