Statue of Jeanne d’Arc

The Statue of Jeanne d’Arc stands as a tribute to one of France’s most revered heroines. The author of the statue is Emmanuel Frémiet, renowned for his equestrian sculptures. Erected in 1874, this gilded bronze statue is a tribute to the Maid of Orléans, who, in the 15th century, led French forces to victory against the English during the Hundred Years’ War. The statue is positioned at the Place des Pyramides, a location chosen for its historical significance, near the place where Joan of Arc was wounded during the failed attempt to take Paris.

Throughout history, Joan of Arc has inspired countless works of art and literature, and her story of bravery captivates audiences worldwide. She became a national hero, a Catholic saint, and the Patron Saint of France.

Legend has it that her spirit continues to watch over France, as a guardian angel of the nation.
